TOKO HOUSE is our studio’s own case study. A thought experiment built in wood and weather - an ongoing conversation between simplicity, adaptability, and the essence of dwelling.

At its core, this is a house shaped by ideals: small in footprint, generous in experience. Designed within a strict modular grid, the house follows a logic of prefabrication - an architecture of elements. Each part is part of a larger rhythm, allowing the structure to be assembled with speed, precision, and economy. It’s a system in service of life, not the other way around.

But TOKO HOUSE is more than a set of modules. It’s a home made for the in-between. A continuous exploration of thresholds - between inside and out, shelter and exposure, stillness and movement. In summer, the house expands into its deep overhangs, blurring the line between room and landscape. In winter, it retreats inward, finding warmth in tucked-away corners nestled within the folds of the façade.

Two high volumes form the heart of the home, loosely wrapped in a generous roof. The overhang is not an afterthought, but a vital part of the architecture - holding space for both interior intimacy and outdoor dwelling. The house weaves in and out of its own edge, carving out nooks for solitude, for gathering, for watching the weather move.

This is a house that rethinks scale. It is compact, but not confined. Open, but not exposed. A place that adjusts with the seasons, the light, and the life that unfolds within it.

For us, TOKO HOUSE is more than a building - it’s a question. How little do we need to live well? And how can design help us get there - quietly, beautifully, and with care?
